So what do we do?

What do we do until our heart is full ?

We do what we can. We try our best. We don’t compare. We give our time to what matters. To what makes us feel good. We numb the bits of pain when they’re a bit too hard to handle. We do sports. We have chips and cake.

We make it worth it even if it’s not perfect. We explore, we dive in, we try to understand. We pay attention, we loose patience, we embrace our occasional defeatism and lack of optimism. We try not to be too ungrateful, too self-centered.

We focus on what’s going well, we take none of this for granted, we savour the moments of grace. We loose heart, we get discouraged. We remember we’re OK. We feel better. We isolate, we distance ourselves. We avoid others’ happiness.

We talk things out, we philosophize. We laugh, we cry. We soak in the cutest baby’s smile. We go to the movies, to exhibitions, to theater plays. We go to work, we try to be good - there are times we’re not.

We take the metro back to our flat. We wish there was someone there. We’re happy there isn’t cause we can do whatever we want. We take good care of ourselves. We sort things out. We clean the mess. We relax.

We take some appointments. We plan things for the weekend. We have no idea what we’ll do this summer. We go out. We stay in and would not change the comfort of home for the world.

We work, we volunteer, we watch series, we go have a drink. We write, we read. We consume, we create. We realize creating usually is what feels the best. We try to move the needle.

We take up new projects, we’re happy they’re over. We look for new challenges that will keep things interesting. We strive to be accountable and disciplined. We set new goals. We try all the flavours of vitamins. (We like pineapple better although we haven’t tried cherry yet.)

We seek to make life more pleasurable and meaningful.
