So overrated

It can be hard witnessing other people’s happiness. It is probably even harder when they’re at the same stage of life. Or when they’re an ex. Or an old crush. ^^

Because of comparison, and the revival of some vaguely hurt feelings. It’s not like you care but what do you mean they got a second kid, they’re starting a business, and building a house ?

Honestly, you don’t know how they did it. Luck ? Better choices ? Reasonable expectations ?

You try to rationalise :

1. They’ve done it all and have a shitload of money, but maybe they’re really sad. Love, exotic holidays, success… It all comes with its own sets of worries and insecurities. And doubts and problems. And fears. And stress. ^^

2. Their happiness doesn’t really impact your life. You can handle that little pinch in the heart. You should actually thank them : they might be doing you a favour shedding light on what it is that you want.

3. You trust that it’s all for the best. You’d rather appreciate what you have. Acceptance does wonders.

And contentment - you’ll go with contentment as well.

‘Cause happiness is just so overrated.
