You know how it goes : you’re born, you meet the love of your life, buy a house, get married, have children, grandchildren, and die. That’s what people do. It is said to contribute to fulfilment and happiness (and to not dying alone).
Which is why you not following the expected path might be unsettling to some. They want you to be happy (and why wouldn’t you experience what they go through with their partners and kids? ^^).
They have a hard time understanding that being single can be a choice. And they forget it is not an easy thing to run into someone you actually want to be with. Even less so someone who feels the same, and who preferably is not already engaged or married (cause that has been shown to make things a tiny bit difficult).
Being single is not good or bad : it is simply what you make of it. You can be happy either way. And you can keep looking actively for love, trusting it will come as a byproduct of living life, or enjoying being by yourself cause that’s what your heart wants.
No reason to be sorry.
Not if all the hot guys out there aren’t sorry for being taken!
