There are leaders and there are those who really lead.

Leaders hold a position of power or authority.

Those who really lead inspire us and make us want to follow them,

not for them per se but rather for ourselves.

All the great and inspiring leaders think, act, and communicate the exact same way,

which turns out to be the complete opposite to everyone else.

They start with the why, proceed with the how, and end with the what.

They reverse the order of the information, they go from the inside out.

All leaders know what they do, some know how they do it, but very few know why.

Why is a cause, a belief, a purpose

– why is not making a profit, making a profit is a result.

When starting with why, leaders are talking directly to our limbic brain,

the part that controls our decision-making, our feelings, and our overall behaviour.

They are talking to our intuition, to our soul, to our heart, to our gut,

to whatever makes us feel that this is it because “ it just feels right. “

Leaders address the why because people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.

They do get features, benefits, figures, and facts but these don’t really drive their behaviour.

More than a product or a person, people choose what they actually believe in,

what matches their view of the world, who they are, and sometimes who they aspire to be.

And it is these people leaders talk to and want to attract.

People who will take their cause, make it their own, and spread it some more.

People who will create structures that will help get the word out,

who will follow them and be loyal, people who will show up.

So even if you don’t have the recipe for success,

even if there is no money, no knowing the right people, no good market conditions,

you can still succeed in leading as long as you are driven.

As long as you find those who want to be part of your dream,

as long as you share your vision.
